School Sport and Fitness Week

Sport and keeping active are a key part of our school curriculum. Lunchtimes are led by our sports coaches and play leaders and we want every child to have the opportunity to experience and succeed in a number of sporting areas.  Our ‘Fitness Week’ is the culmination of a great deal of work by our P.E. staff. We invite a range of professional coaches to school to deliver judo, aerobics, dance, tag rugby, speed stacking, cricket, climbing, golf and curling, to name but a few. Children go off site to some venues and we try to ensure every child has a wonderfully varied week. Our focus on sport and developing the skills of the children and good team work certainly does have a ‘knock on’ effect on performances in school sports competitions. We have won boys and girls schools football, cricket and experienced great success in the Blackpool School Games this summer. Not only do children really enjoy sport we hope it may encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
