Firstly may I thank you for demonstrating your interest and finding your way to this page on our web site.  Waterloo Primary School is a three-form entry school, we have a good name in the local community and we are usually full..
The main findings of our 2004 Ofsted inspection concluded that all areas were either, good, very good or excellent. Our latest Ofsted 2008 report stated that "Waterloo is a brilliant school and the teachers are excellent".
Anyone with experience knows that sometimes such accolades can be gained as much by good fortune, as by merit. Waterloo’s success has been achieved because of the dedication and determination of everyone involved with school and for more than a decade, the school has been “exceptionally well led, managed (and governed)”. Our ambition is to improve further, always ready to respond to change. We encourage and expect our staff to develop professionally. Our teachers are accustomed to giving each other feedback, we have put them in the driving seat of their own and therefore schools’ development.
Our catchment area inspires our ethos. Drawing substantially, from one of the most deprived areas of the country, poverty and social exclusion are serious local problems that threaten our children’s future. Pupils’ attainment and social skills on entry are well below average. Turnover and transience, special educational needs, pupils eligible for free school meals, are all higher than average, although there are few pupils with English as a second language.
We are incredibly proud of the work done through our Special Education Resource Facility (SERF) for Hearing Impaired children who also integrate with the children in the mainstream for some of their day. Our Nursery also provides support for Hearing Impaired children as well as assessment places for both Hearing Impaired and Visually Impaired children.
We particularly embrace the impact of new technology on the classroom. It is vitally important that the use of new technology continues to be extended in our school and that we ensure that all teachers and support staff have the necessary skills to be able to use IT in the classroom for the maximum benefit.
Every day, every policy, everyone, at Waterloo ensures that every child, is equally valued and their future is equally worked for. No child should be left behind or excluded in our ambition.
