Sports Festivals

Waterloo is one of the 6 primary schools across the authority to take part in a programme of sports festivals provided every Wednesday evening by Palatine Community Sports College. These festivals involve pupils from Years I — 6 and allow them to participate in various sporting activities. The festivals take place in Palatine Leisure Centre and involve activities such as: football, fitness, athletics, orienteering, badminton, basketball, multi-skills, hockey, and lacrosse.
These festivals were organised by Ben Whittaker, a PE Teacher from Palatine, in co-ordination with Waterloo staff Miss M White (PE Co-ordinator) and Miss K Chapman (Sports Coach).
Ben Whittaker stated, “Waterloo is one of our local primary schools who come along every Wednesday throughout the term time. The festivals have been planned to meet the needs of the community and fulfil the new National Competition Framework for School Sport. Pupils from Waterloo are able to participate and compete in many sports, some which are new to them, and some which extend the excellent provision already available at Waterloo.”
