Absolutely disgraceful!

We have only lived in the area for a short time, and my son started at the school at the beginning of last term. The brand new play equipment they have destroyed will be missed by the kids. I am just thankful no-one was in the school at the time, it doesn't bare thinking about. I just hope the selfish mindless people are caught and dealt with properly. I am sure I am not alone when I say I would be happy to help with anything the school needs to be sorted in time for the kids going back. (written by C.H a parent)

This is horrible

This is horrible because my little is starting in September and now she doesn't have anything to play with and the rest of the kids don't Either!!I hope the people who did this get caught!(written by K.B who left Waterloo in July)

Why would somebody want to ruin the school ?

I think that the people who did this are sick! It's absolutely discraceful , why would somebody want to ruin the school ? Because if the firemen didn't get there in time the whole school would be burnt like it said in the Gazzete  and my friend K.B has a little sister who is starting in september and if not built in time she will have nothing to play on... well hopefully its all fixed by september!!! (written by K.R a pupil)

Stupidity

Hi My nameis Sarah my daughter will be starting at the Waterloo in September and I think it is disgraceful and childish how children can do something like this its not fair to the school or to the children that attend this school or that will be attending this school all the work and equipment that has been ruined all for a bit of fun and stupidity I thought children would have learned from the fire at devionshire Rd school where children burnt the school down I hope who ever has done this get punished. (written by S.R a parent)

Absolutely disgraceful

Its absolutely disgraceful that people can do this to kids i have a son starting at this school in september i just hope that it is sorted out by then and also i have a daughter due to start in year two in one of the classroom that was damaged due to the fire i just hope that it is ok for her to start in september. Saddened

I was very saddened to see this happen at Waterloo, My son has just left in July my other two children went through Waterloo as did myself. If they find the person or persons who did this, they should make them work at the school so they can see the damage they did and stand in front of the children and apologise for this so they can see the disruption this has caused and the how the children who go there feel about it. Fire drama at school

CHILDREN looked on in tears as a suspected arson attack caused thousands of pounds of damage at their school.
The incident started at Waterloo Primary School in South Shore at just before 5.30pm after vandals set light to two plastic planters.

Flames then spread up through the window frames and into two of the classrooms - and firefighters say the blaze had echoes of the 2003 fire which destroyed Devonshire Road Primary School.

Watch manager Andrew Mellor, of South Shore Fire Station, said: "This could potentially have been another Devonshire Road Primary School.

"If we hadn't put out the flames quickly they could have gotten into the roof space and then it would have been very difficult to contain.

"When firefighters arrived the flames were lapping up the side of the building to the eaves.

"We believe it was started with malicious intent.

"Our investigation has already begun and the police are here conducting their inquiries also."

Nobody was in the building at the time of the fire.
